The proposed nearly 3,500-acre expansion not only further threatens local businesses already suffering the damage done by Alton’s previously approved Coal Hollow mine, but it seriously threatens the experiences of 1.29 million annual park-goers who travel to Bryce Canyon National Park for its dark night skies and solitude.
The federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is moving forward on its dirty, dangerous coal mine expansion proposal. The BLM recently released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), and is now accepting public comments on the plan.
Now is the time to take action to stop Alton Coal before its bulldozers ruin our national treasures! Sign the petitions to BLM and the Los Angles Department of Water and Power, and get involved!
